Sensrad is a spin-out product company from Qamcom's radar division, born to redefine what a radar sensor can do. Their 4D high-resolution radar technology serves vehicles, infrastructure, and surveillance — generating point clouds detailed enough to enable assistant driving, full autonomy, and complex object detection.
Challenge
Sensrad aims to provide superior sensing solutions which marks a new era in radar sensor performance. Leading an industry revolution, Sensrad challenges the conventional limits and redefines the standards in sensor fusion technology and perception capabilities. To manage that, they did not only require rare expertise within radar and sensor development but also delicate expertise to take the concept from prototype to industrialized product production.
Solution
Qamcom provided a core team of experts who worked on the research and development of the complete product, encompassing everything from radar signal processing to system design, and the design and development of hardware and software. This team was later integrated into the Sensrad organization.
Qamcom also handled the hardware design of the products within the Hugin-series. Including the latest product: Hugin D1.
Qamcom has handled the brand positioning and brand design process.
Outcome
- High scalability, with full support from 76 GHz to 81 GHz, a minimum detection range of 50 cm, and the capability of detecting pedestrians up to 300 meters.
- 10 centimeters range resolution and an ultra-high dynamic range.
- Native resolution with 1.25° Azimuth, 1.5° Elevation, and 0.7° separation supported with super resolution.
- Speed measurement with an unambiguous doppler range of -88 m/s to +44 m/s and a doppler resolution: 0.1 m/s.
- Unmatched Field-of-View (10-dB beamwidth), featuring 100° Azimuth and 30° Elevation.
- Compact multi-layer waveguide.
